Tri-Shutter Card

When I saw the tri-shutter card challenge at Splitcoaststampers, I just knew I had to give it a go. These cards are amazingly easy to make - no joke. Check out the directions here. I highly encourage you to go make one. It looks complicated, but takes so little effort.

I know, I know, the patterned paper looks peculiarly familiar. I'm loving the Walk in the Park Designer Series Paper. I'll switch gears soon. I promise. Okay, on with the details. I stamped the butterflies in three different colors, cut them out, added glitter to the bodies and popped them up with dimensionals. I sponged the white flower to make it pink, added a halfback pearl to the middle and placed the little leaves behind it. The rest is pretty self explanatory.
Hope you all have a good week!

JUST BUZZING BY

First of all, I would like to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day. Don't forget to thank a Veteran for your freedom today or take time to remember those that lost their lives for our freedom.

Today's card is last week's Mojo Monday Sketch Week 87. If you haven't checked out the Mojo Monday blog, you can check it out here. Here's my take on the sketch. I just love the little bee. Shamefully, I've had this "Just Buzzing By" stamp set for some time and this is the first time these images have been inked up. I used my watercolor pencils with the blender pen to color in the bee and the honey pot. I just had to add the Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the wings and honey. Love that stuff - can't live without it. The sentiment is stamped in craft ink and heat set with white embossing powder.
Would you like to see another take on this sketch? Buzz on over to Dee's blog and check out her card. (All puns intended.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ELLEN

This is an all Stampin' Up! card. You'll probably see a lot of SU only cards as I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. LOL!

I just love chocolate brown with pink. Actually, I love chocolate brown with just about any color. Some people like pink, some like purple - me, well, I'm a chocolate brown kind of girl!

I created this card for my dear sister-in-law's, Ellen's, 35th birthday. She'll be traveling to Florida with us later this summer. Last summer she traveled to South Carolina with us to the beach. My son, Jo Jo, said that was one of his best vacations ever. So, I included our flight itinerary inside the card as a surprise!

So, what do you think? I'd love to hear a comment on my first real post.

Supplies: Stamps - SU!'s Party Hearty, Short & Sweet; Cardstock - Regal Rose, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Sweet Alway DP; Ink- Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose; Accessories - Circle Scissor Plus, 3/4" circle punch, wide oval punch, large oval punch, regal rose ribbon, rhinestone from the Pretties Kit

You can view these Stampin' Up! products and more on my Stampin' Up! website at www.loriburkitt.stampinup.net.

I FINALLY DECIDED TO TAKE THE LEAP

I've been kicking around the idea of starting my own blog for some time now. I wasn't sure if I was too technically challenged, but I'm doing it anyway! I'm not sure how often I will be able to post, but I'm hoping this will give me the much needed kick in the pants to create and dust off my much neglected stamps and craft products. So, with that said, "Welcome to my blog!" Feel free to leave a comment. I only ask that you take it easy on me.
