You're A Blast

Just playing around with another Mojo Monday sketch. I find sketches to be just the right springboard to get the creative juices flowing.

I used all retired Stampin' Up! Designer Series paper on this card. The rocket is taken from the stamp set "Pun Fun" and I separated the saying, "You're a blast!" from the rocket by using a Post-it note mask. The rocket was double stamped in Jet Black Staz-on ink once onto the Night of Navy cardstock and once onto watercolor paper to keep the black ink from bleeding into the water coloring. I used my blender pen and Stampin' Up! classic ink pads to color in the rocket. I tend to squeeze out too much water when using the aqua painters. The moon was created using a circle punch and then moving the punch down a bit and punching a partial "bite" out of the original circle.
Hope everyone is having a good week. The weekend's just around the corner! :)

Supplies: Stamps - Pun Fun; Ink - Jet Black Staz-On, Real Red, Not Quite Navy, Pumpkin Pie, Bermuda Bay; Paper - Water Color Paper, Whisper White, Not Quite Navy, Crushed Curry, Real Red, retired DSP; Accessories - Scissors Circle Plus, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Small Star Punch, 1" Circle Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Word Window Punch, Blender Pen

Stinkin' Sweet

I don't know what it is about this little skunk that I find irresistible. It kind of reminds me of Pepe' Le Pew! Remember how he would chase that poor cat around? Okay, I'm dating myself here! I've noticed I have been using yellow on just about all of my cards. So, just to mix it up a bit I thought I'd try pink along with the Mojo Monday Week 82 sketch. I'm not really a pink girl, but nevertheless, I think I didn't do too bad. Besides, I'm waiting for my new Stampin' Up! order. Can't wait to get it so I can use the new Designer Series Papers.

THE CIRCLE OF LIFE

It seems like I've been making a lot of sympathy cards lately. I find sympathy cards to be a challenge because you really want the receiver to feel like you've put your heart into making the card. My dear friend, Allie's, father-in-law passed away unexpectedly last month. This is the card I sent to her husband and her.

Thanks for visiting me today!
Supplies: Stamps - Thoughts & Prayers; Paper - Basic Gray, Blue Bayou, Whisper White, Urban Garden Designer Series Paper, Ink - Basic Gray, Sahara Sand; Accessories - Blue Bayou Corduroy Buttons, 3/4" Circle Punch, Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon

ALWAYS ON MY MIND

I don't really know what I was thinking when I pulled all these colors together for the Mojo Monday Week 92 Sketch. Looking back I think I should have swapped the pumpkin pie card stock for more of an old olive color. Oh well, like I said in an earlier post, I'm kinda in a weird funk. I really do love the bird image from this set but I can't seem to find the right combinations for him yet. I guess I'll just have to keep trying.

Thanks for checking in with me today!

The Big 7 - "OH!"

This is the card I gave my father-in-law for his big "70th" birthday! He used to tease me and say I was his "favorite" daughter-in-law. Of course that's when he only had ONE daughter-in-law. That's okay. I always tell him he's the best father-in-law I've ever had. (Maybe it's because he's the ONLY father-in-law I've ever had!) I have to admit he is a great father-in-law though!

I stamped the chef on several pieces of card stock and patterned paper and "paper pieced" them together for all the different colors and patterns. The cake is colored in with markers, watercolor pencils and a blender pen. Of course, this card is inspired by the Mojo Monday Sketches. It just happens to be Sketch Week 93.

Thanks for stopping by and peeking in on me today!

Perfect Pear

Okay, corny title! This card makes me think of my good friend, Doris. I'm really not sure why. Maybe it is because the card is bright and cheery and she always has a way of cheering me up.

I used the pear from Stampin' Up!'s "Cheep Talk" stamp set as my main image. As you can tell, if you click on the picture for a closer look, I went a little crazy with my paper piercer. I love that thing. My piercer looks like it's been to Mars and back - not sure how it ended up like that. I colored in the pear images with markers and traced the outside edge of the pears with the Old Olive marker. Again, I used my favorite color - chocolate! It just makes everything better! I also used the Mojo Monday Week 94 sketch for the layout of my card. Be sure to check back with me this week. I'll have more cards to show you. Thanks for peeking in on me today.

Supplies: Stamps - Cheep Talk; Paper - Good Morning Sunshine DSP (retired), Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss (retired), Summer Sun, Chocolate Chip; Ink - Whisper White Craft Ink, SU! Markers - Summer Sun, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive; Accessories - Mat Pack, Paper Piercer, White Embossing Powder, Sahara Sand Watercolor Crayon, Blender Pen, Vintage Brads, Photo Corners Punch, Designer Label Punch, Word Window Punch, 1" Circle Punch

LONG TIME COMING

I know, I know! I haven't posted a card in like forever. I have been creating, but I'm in an awful rut. If you find my mojo will you tell it to please come home? I'm missing it terribly! Plus, I've really been enjoying my summer. Hopefully, I'll have a card to post later today. I just need to get my darling husband to photograph it along with a few others. So, please check back with me later today. Have a great Sunday everyone!

EVERYBODY NEEDS A LITTLE TLC

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. I'm still recovering from all the food I ate. I just wanted to let you know of an upcoming class I'm holding. It's a Technique Lovers' Class - hence the name TLC. LOL! Don't let the name scare you. You don't have to have experience to attend this class. Actually, no experience is needed. Come find out the burning answers to "How did they do that?" In this class we'll create three different cards using the faux clouds technique, the beautiful watercolor roses technique and the dry embossing technique. Okay, here's the information:

What: Technique Lovers' Class
When: Thursday, July 23rd 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Where: My House - 2629 Pennington Road, Waverly
Class Fee: $5.00 per person due the evening of class. (Class fee waived with a $25.00 or more SU! order the evening of class.)
RSVP: Please RSVP by Friday, July 17th. Just a simple "yes I'm coming" will seal the deal for me. This ensures that I have all materials prepared for each class participant.

You will need to bring your own adhesive and a pair of paper snips (if you have paper snips) to class.

If you have any questions, need directions to my house or would like to RSVP, drop me a line at l_burkitt@yahoo.com.
